In the early 2010s, we saw a disconnect between those selling smart systems, those installing them, and those who used them. We launched IDS to close that gap, offering the technical expertise needed to make smart building deployments successful.
Our first seven-week on-site project gave us a deep understanding of system integration and the need for better standards. We turned those insights into streamlined processes that improved speed, accuracy, and results.

As co-founder and CEO, Derek Davis keeps the team aligned and motivated to do their best work.
With over 20 years of experience, Derek has built three companies focused on smart building technologies. His deep industry knowledge and innovative mindset allow him to solve complex challenges with practical, forward-thinking solutions.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys hiking the Appalachian trails and spending time on the Florida coast with his wife, Kylee, and their dog, Sadie.
As co-founder and COO, Rich shapes the company’s strategic direction and leads the development of a strong, mission-aligned leadership team.
He’s passionate about reducing emissions in commercial real estate through LED lighting and advanced control systems. Rich also mentors team members, helping them grow into their full potential.
A committed environmentalist, Rich leads by example, planting native species, reducing single-use plastics, and promoting everyday sustainability.
As president, Gustavo drives day-to-day operations with clarity, precision, and vision. He leads cross-functional teams, solves complex challenges, and ensures projects stay on track—from kickoff to completion.
With a background in engineering, Gustavo plays a critical role in scaling the company’s systems and services. He thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, always finding smarter and faster ways to deliver value to clients.
